    Using this on_air site

    Observatory is using a new website development system called "on_air" created by AIR networks. The on_air system provides Observatory website users with a number of new features.

    Slide Show
    The Slide Show that appears at the top of many Observatory pages. To see all the slides, hover over any one of the thumbnails or tap the thumbnail with your finger on a touch-based device. This action will suspend the slide show. You can then hover over or tap on other thumbnails to see its image and text. To go to the post, click on the image or on the title at the top right. To go and view all the related posts, click on the primary category link in caps just below the post title to the right of the image.
    Site Map Navigation
    The Site Map Navigation feature, the icon to the left of the "HOME" tab, enables users to browse the entire Observatory site. Click on the arrows to open and close a category (By clicking on a category, users can go directly to that category and the posts within it).
    Faculty and Student pages
    Faculty and Student pages that can be accessed through tables such as this one under faculty called "Instructional Faculty". Click on the name of the person to go to their profile page. Click on "Research Interest" to go to the Research Center or Group that the faculty person is connected with. Users can learn more about the person by selecting any of the links just below their contact information.
    Browser compatibility
    Browser compatibility: The Observatory website can be viewed on updated Chrome and Firefox browsers as well IE Explorer 8 or higher and Safari.
    Usability on Multiple Devices
    At the present time the Observatory website is best viewed on a PC with a minimum width screen resolution of 1020 pixels. Over the next few months, the user experience on Android and Apple tablets and smartphones will be greatly improved.
